Mission Statement

Worship

Our desire is to see young people become worshipper of God. Worship is the outflow of our lives and is developed in the youth ministry by prayer, song, and Biblical instruction.

Instruction

We believe that the Bible is the infallible Word of God and is the only source we use for teaching and instruction.

Fellowship

We believe that fellowship is important to the Christian family. It is our goal to see young people develop relationships with their peers and youth leaders.

Evangelism

We believe that the Bible commands believers preach the gospel. We encourage the young people to be witnesses for Jesus Christ.

L.E.A.D.S. Youth Ministry Overview

Our Mission

Our mission as the church is established by Christ in the scriptures.  Matthew 28:18-20 and Acts 1:8.  We do not get to choose our mission.

Our Message

Our message is established by Christ in the scriptures.  We do not get to choose our message.

·         The Gospel

·         The Teaching of the Scriptures leading to maturity in Christ

Our Model

The implementation of the mission and message is expressed through the biblical model in Deut. 6 and Acts 2:42-47

Our Method

God moves uniquely in each person’s life and within each congregation.  The implementation of our mission, message and model is determined by the times, the vision of the pastoral staff and the church, what God is saying to the church.

Elements of an effective youth ministry

1.   The heart, life and vision of the pastor, the pastoral team and the youth minister as the immediate overseer.

o   One can only lead from what is in one’s heart.

o   “It” doesn’t work, God does. (“It” being a strategy, vision or plan)

o   What is your vision or the DNA that is clearly communicated and engrained into everything we do?

§  Reaching and equipping the next generation of great American Christian leaders.

§  For me it is the L.E.A.D.S. process.

o   A leader L.E.A.D.S.

§  Look and see

§  Encourage/Emotional Bridge

§  Adjust/Apprentice

§  Develop a growing relationship

§  Success is when your apprentice has an apprentice

2.   The Parent Leadership Team-PLT (Parents who have youth)

o   Parents are the kid’s authority and covering.

o   Parental buy-in and participation is essential.

o   Question: Do you have a parent-led “youth committee” in place?  If so meet with them to share the vision, getting their input and buy-in.  Ownership is everything.  90% of the work needs to be done by the parents and youth!!!!

o   The the first group to present to is parents.  Call a parent meeting to get their buy-in.

§  Snoop around.  Do any of the parents embrace the “youth group” controversy?

o   Before the meeting make key visits sharing the vision.  It always helps to have the key leaders on board BEFORE the parent meeting.

3.   An Anchor Event (Weekly)

o   Worship time

o   Bible Study

o   Anchor groups

o   Games

4.   Discipleship/Leadership Development (Done in small groups)

o   Discipleship essentials (The life in Christ, Prayer, Bible Reading/ Study, The Gospel, The Plan of Salvation, My Personal Testimony, The L.E.A.D.S. process, etc…)

o   Developing a Christian World View

5.   Outreach/Missions

o   Activities are outreach oriented and done through the Anchor groups on Wednesday night.  Supervised by the parents in the group.

§  Note: There will be at least one youth activities a month per group.

§  All activities have to pay for themselves.

§  This will require good planning and a very organized calendar.

o   Community Outreach

§  PLT/YLT Assists in visitation through Anchor Groups

o   Penetrating the School Campus

o   North Idaho Mission Effort

6.   Youth Group Trips/Events

My Philosophy is to create some youth group traditions.

o   Summer Camp?

o   Winter Ski?

o   In-Church Weekend/Disciple Now?

o   Concerts/Conferences?

7.   Communications

o   Email, Texting, Website, other technology?

8.   Administration

o   The people are the ministers the pastors are the administers

§  Parent Leadership Team (PLT)

§  Youth Leadership Team (YLT)

o   Lean on the PLT/YLT for as much as possible.

o   Sharpen your strengths and staff your weaknesses.

o   Youth Risk Management
